Some pics from our recent trip to Germany and the Netherlands. More from the Netherlands, because we've been to Herrsching and Munich three times now, so I've already taken pictures of EVERYTHING there.
This time, we stayed at the Hotel Ammersee (the lake in Herrsching is called "Ammersee"), which is a little bit fancy -- there's a spa in the basement. The restaurant was very fancy. We all kind of wussed out the first night and decided, after having some coffee and mineral water (with gas) to eat at the hotel.

This year, Greg taught the course with one of the younger guys from work. His wife wanted to go visit Dachau, which is near Munich, so we went one day. It was a work camp, rather than an extermination camp, so the visit wasn't as traumatic as it could have been.

Andechs is a monastery ("Kloster") about a mile from Herrsching that brews and sells beer. They also serve all kinds of simple, very Bavarian food.

One AWESOME thing about Germany (and the Netherlands) is that you can take your dog with you everywhere, even restaurants.

Marienplatz, kind of the city center of Munich, has lots of stores that sell dirndls and lederhosen, traditional Bavarian clothing that people wear for Oktoberfest or other festitvals. This mannequin was probably originally intended to display some other kind of clothing.
Turns out I have more Germany pictures than I thought, probably due to Greg's colleague's wife also talking me into taking a bike tour of Munich. Man, people who go out and DO things while they're on vacation....what's that about??! So I'll post more pics over the next few days/weeks.
